Its a start

So we joined weight watchers online on Tuesday and went to my first meeting last night.


Interesting… I get the “support” part or in my mind the accountability of weighing in each week, the reality of what you did the week before will show in numbers on a little sticky that’s attached to the inside of your weight bible providing you with the wooo hooo factor or the I suck factor for the next week.

What I don’t get is the point system. Don’t get me wrong I understand how it works but the difference between the male and female points is what I don’t get. Now granted I want a man that’s taller and weighs more than me but why does he get to eat more than me? Not only was I dealt the fat gene but now I’m faced with the female gene that doesn’t allow me 6 extra points a day? What happened to equal rights???

During the meeting we were asked to do a written exercise. We needed to write down what we did during most weeks that we would consider “exercise”. Now that could be walking, playing with the kids outside, going to the gym etc… Immediately I noticed people writing things down. After about 5 minutes of serious thought, my paper was blank! BLANK!!! Ok, not true I wrote down Walking the Dog but I don’t do that every day or even twice a week. But if I was called on I had to say something, I didn’t want to be like that kid in 6th grade that everyone thought was stupid, remember him? He would always say I don’t know when the teacher called on him, he would never get up to write and answer on the blackboard, we just thought he was dumb but reality was he had a hard on and was embarrassed to get up. Now you know how I felt - can you imagine I literally realized I do NOTHING, my mental hard on. Dave tried to make me feel better saying that I probably walked more than I realized at work. Hmmm I bet I do, yea, walking to the printer, walking to the bathroom, walking outside for a cigarette, walking to my car to leave, yes I do walk a lot!!! – I don’t think that counts in the Weight Watchers handbook as exercise. If it did… I’d receive a Gold Star on my forehead every week at a meeting.

So to celebrate our victorious evening at our first Weight Watchers meeting, the fact that we made it on time, stayed for the full meeting didn’t fall asleep or didn’t make fun of anyone - we went out for dinner and a couple of our favorite Margaritas. Made sense to me, the restaurant was so packed we had to park at the other end of the lot and we had to walk from the car to the restaurant and then walk back to the car when dinner was done… Got my exercise for the day :)
